Length of hose, diameter of hose and pressure

Post by SelfSeeker » Tue Oct 17, 2006 5:37 am

I have seen different length of hoses: 6 ft or 10 ft.

Are they the same diameter.

What if you put to 6 ft together, would you lose pressure?

Would increasing the pressure componsate on a straight CPAP?

Would it distroy the ability of an Auto CPAP to detect events and compenstate by changes in pressure?

I can do this, I will do this.

My disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever worked in the health care field Just my personal opinions.

SS,

Yes, they're the same diameter.
I seem to recall reading that they don't recommend going beyond the 10 ft. hose length.

I would think that too long of a length would reduce pressure and the ability for the machine to detect events.

Den is correct, same size, and it might make APAP harder to sense changes. I use 10 foot on mine, it sure doesn't hurt it picking up snores, in fact dragging the hose around adds snores, I need to correct my hose hanging.

On XPAP, there is no need to correct the pressure, the machine is supposed to keep the pressure at the correct level. Jim
