Drooling mouth breathing

Post by sleepinow » Tue Feb 28, 2017 2:18 pm

Ever since I started mouth breathing, I started drooling a lot. It made me uncomfortable at night because it would make my face cold whenever I would touch it. I recently started adjusting to a face mask. How do people deal with drool inside the mask? Does drooling stop with face masks?

Start washing your face before you go to work.

I assume you mean full face mask (FFM). Which model?

You might want to consider using a firm foam cervical collar to keep your jaw from dropping -

The firm works better and lasts longer than the soft. There seems to be no loss in comfort with the firm over the soft.

The cells in the foam break down over time. One lasts me about four months.

Typically the 3-inch width fits a smaller person, and the 3.5-inch or 4.0-inch fits a larger person. Some may need to change the size up or down on the second order. The larger size you can wear, the more support to keep the jaw from dropping. Although I am a small person, the 4.0-inch collar works best for me.

Walmart ships free to your closest store for customer pickup.

To stop the drool from sliding out you have to keep the mouth shut.
Easier said than done of course and why you are using a full face mask.

If it were me I would probably try a mask liner in an effort to let the liner absorb some of the drool and keep it off my skin.
Either that or put a very small amount of some absorbent material in the bottom of the mask where the drool tends to navigate to and hope the material absorbs some of the moisture.

Been using Remzzz's since 2nd week of cpap, or two years. Have to wash them daily, and need to wring me out sometimes at night, but they solved my problem of droolyface. They are made out of something like tshirt material and fairly absorbent. Luck.

Going to look into the absorbant stuff and trying to keep mouth shut. My main problem is drool on pillow because it creates like a small pool that is annoying to lay on. I may have to try a pillow that absorbs liquid better.
