Need Help Finding Resmed S9 Replacement
Need Help Finding Resmed S9 Replacement
We had a minor house fire about a week ago. Not a lot of fire damage but smoke damage throughtout the house. I need to replace my S9 which I like a lot but from what I understand they don't make it anymore. The insurance adjuster said to ask them what model would be a "like" replacement for the model I have. Wanted to check with folks on here before I get Resmed's upsell pitch. Thanks.

Re: Need Help Finding Resmed S9 Replacement
ResMed replaced the S9 model cpap/apap model line with the AirSense 10 model line.
http://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/pr ... vices.html
Nice machines. For the most part cosmetic changes with a few minor feature tweaks.
Overall algorithm on how they go about doing their job didn't change except for the addition of the special apap mode available on the For Her AutoSet model.
If you want another S9 they can still be found
cpap.com still has some
Most brick and mortar DMEs will have changed over to the AirSense 10 models.
S9s are still available privately but if insurance is involved I don't know how they would handle a private party purchase.

See above for what cpap.com offers.
Word of warning...avoid the AirStart models...bricks without any data and not heated hose capable either.
Good cheap machines if you don't need data or a heated hose but since insurance is paying I would suggest get a full data machine even if you don't use the data available at this time.
Same thing about the heated hose...even if you don't need it now you might want it later.

Just out of curiosity, what did you had in mind when you stated here in part, "Word of warning...avoid the AirStart models." Were that a typo when you mentioned 'AirStart'? Do we really have airstart models currently in active service? I bet, you probably were meaning to say AirSense but just is unsure.

AirStart models are indeed out there and available and some DMEs do dispense them instead of the AirSense models.
It wasn't a typo.
Not too long ago here someone came with the AirStart machine and wanting to add the heated hose but with the AirStart models they are not heated hose capable.
They are the bare bones most basic machines when it comes to comfort or anything else. I wouldn't have one if it was free.
ResMed makes it out like "simple" is best...it isn't in my book
https://www.resmed.com/ap/en/consumer/p ... -cpap.html
Look down at the bottom where the comparison chart is....enhanced climate control...that's the heated hose ClimateLine thing. Not available on the AirStart models.

Re: Need Help Finding Resmed S9 Replacement
Oh....the AirStart will produce humidity....it just can't be fine tuned with the heated hose or if you have condensation in the mask or hose you can't just easily add the heated hose like you can with the AirSense machine.CPAPforever wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 4:42 pmShame on ResMed for making any xPAP mahine that is not humidity capable. Instead other measures like hose cozy or whatever must be used instead.
