cloth mask

Post by oheyesee » Tue Dec 13, 2016 7:06 am

Has any body tried the cloth mask? I asked my provider to try one over three weeks ago and still didn't hear any thing. I called them and was told some one would get back but three days later still no call! Are those masks hard to get or what? I'm not very happy with the provider but because of competitive bidding they were the only store in my county I could use. About a month after I started with my machine they moved out of the county! Now the nearest store is at least a half hour away! I'm on disability and don't feel like driving that far! There is a store the next town over and in my county but they can't sell to people in this county but they can sell to people the next county over! I called Medicare about this competitive thing and found out only some areas are affected buy this rule and I asked why, It took about two weeks to get an answer. They finally come up with it's not their rule but in come from congress. No wounder if it come from congress it has to be a messed up rule! I called my congress man but it was election time and he was too busy getting reelected to worry about me. Still did get a good answer! Sorry about the rant but!

Hi,

I received my sleep weaver elan through SleepMed, http://www.sleepmedinc.com/. If there isn't an office near you, go to http://circadiance.com/contact/ and ask them for a list of DMEs near you that carry their products.

I don't have Medicare so I am not sure how that affects your ability to get this mask.

Yes, you can get a cloth mask called Sleepweaver by Circadian (they also have Elan and another one). If you are working with Lincare, then the office you work with has to provide it. The warehouse does not carry Circadian at all. I had to go into the office to get the first one, but after that, when I need one, I can just call them when I'm due for a full mask and they will ship it from the office. I'm liking the Elan and that one has a replaceable nose piece so it counts as a cushion instead of a whole mask. The other one I use (and like) is SleepWeaver Advance Nasal CPAP Mask with Improved Zzzephyr Seal (got from here on Cpap.com) but you have to replace the whole mask every time.

I found that I needed to wear an sleep mask (Walgreens about $8) over the mask because I was getting a lot of leaks into my eyes.

I have no idea about Apria. The new DME (competitive bid) for my area does not offer them, which is why I stayed with Lincare.

I don't know what the longevity of these masks are as I only use them when I'm having a lot of sinus problems and swelling in my cheekbones. I find that I have to use the featherweight tube with this mask or the main hose pulls too much. This may be a non-problem if you has a hose caddy.
