New insurance/ c pap machine question

Post by Greekjim » Sun Oct 30, 2016 4:27 pm

So I have been using my c pap machine for a couple months now, and looking at the Obamacare insurance quotes has me thinking about switching insurance companies. Would I need a new prescription from the sleep doctor to show to the new insurance company to cover my machine? I got an app item not with the sleep doc in a week and a half, thanks.

There is really no way of knowing. Every insurance company has their own rules and conditions you need to follow. The new insurance may or may not accept your old prescription. They may even require you to go through another sleep study. If your old insurance company is using a rent to own program to purchase your machine, you will need to return it. However, if you are lucky and they purchased it out right, you now own the machine. There are too many variables to give you a definitive answer.

Thanks, I will give the DME supplier a call tomorrow and see how the payment was set up, see if it was leased or bought

Call the insurance company instead.
DME's may not know, and then guess or outright LIE to you.
