Attention paid to pressure setting but not to mask choice!

Post by D.H. » Sat Sep 10, 2016 9:31 am

A great deal of time is spent finding just the correct pressure, but little attention is given to the choice of mask.

A comfortable and well fitting mask is just as important a predictor of CPAP compliance end efficacy as getting the correct pressure.

I was referring to the attention it gets from professionals, not the attention given on this (or other) forums.

I've yet to see you make a single worthwhile post.

HOW do you maintain such a record?

That's very true. Especially by the DMEs who hand out the equipment.
We've seen so many posts by folks who were handed a mask by their DME without much effort spent in measuring or allowing them to try them. Sometimes the users end up with the mask they used in their sleep study.
About a year after I started therapy, I bought a mask that looked like the one I did my sleep study with.......it was horrible and I had to give up on it on the third night.

It's often been discussed that the mask may actually be the MOST important component of this therapy.
