My regular doc sent me to a sleep doc, who did the overnite testing. I didn t know much about the machines and got one with a set pressure. After about 14 months I went back to get an auto. He flat out said no. I then went to my reg physian who gladly wrote prescription. I explained that the constant pressure was causing leaks in mask, that I wanted the software only available for an auto so that maybe i could make adjustments with masks, sleeping positions etc. This convinced him I was very involved and knowledgeable about my treatment.

YOU DEMAND IT. We are medical and knowledgeable consumers. IF he/she won't write it, what about your family practitioner. These doctors shouldn't have anything to say except if the sleep study shows something dire. Other than that, what should they care. They get a cut from the sleep ctr., so what's the big thing. OH well, enuf carping.

I go armed with questions/print them out from this site, and tell him/her, you'd like to try it. Believe me if you stand up to them, maybe you might just surprise them. They need shaking up anyhow.

Complacency, arrogancy and superiority ego factors have no room when you're armed and know what you want. Go for it. Better yet, ask "Rested Gal" who writes on this board to come with you, she's the best.!!
