Ear Pain

Post by StillLearning » Wed Mar 02, 2016 1:41 am

Hi All,

I've been paping well for about 2 months, on a resmed airsense 10 elite, pressure of 10.4, but suddenly i'm having a new problem.

All goes well until I swallow (just a normal swallow of excess saliva while waiting to sleep) - when I do this it "pops" my ears - and creates a pressured feeling on the inner ear like in an aeroplane. This wasn't happening previously but has happened past 3 nights - it's very unpleasant - sort of painful - and makes it very hard to sleep.

I tried increasing the humidity incase it is to do with blocked sinus somewhere but it's already on 5 and any more seems to put water in my tube.

I'd be very grateful if anyone can help me out with a solution to this. I was doing well at adjusting (100% compliance so far) but this is becoming a real roadblock for me. It's so hard to sleep with that much pressure in my ear.

Thanks in advance
Dave.

Which mask are you using?

Do you have any other reason to believe there is nasal blockage?

I suggest you see an ENT specialist if this problem persists. Ear infections are best treated at early onset. Due to similar problems, I had to switch to a full face mask which equalizes the therapy pressure between the mouth, throat and sinuses more evenly. A heated hose can eliminate any water in your hose.

Mask: AirFit™ F10 Full Face Mask with Headgear
Additional Comments: Sleepyhead software v.0.9.8.1 Open GL and Encore Pro v2.2.
I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Dave,

I'm with SirNoddingtonBedshire and ChicagoTypwritter. Need to get a check out by an ENT for infection and the cause of any inflammation, the sooner the better. Keep in mind that sometimes a really nasty infection won't start really hurting until it is a monster. My family is prone to ear problems and I have one kid that would scream at the first sign of infection and the other that would practically have gunk popping out of his ear before he said anything hurt. It doesn't take that long, and it is worth it to have it checked.

Also - Good for you on the 100% compliance - WhooHoo!

Kind regards,
GB
