I am purchasing the DC power adapter for my S8 Vantage to go camping next week. This is probably a silly question, but does this go into the lighter of the vehicle? We will not have hook-ups, but have a small RV with an auxillary battery, and have never taken this RV camping yet. Any help will be appreciated!
Resmed DC Power Adapter..need info please!
dc adapter-Vantage
Yes, it has a lighter plug on the end. Remember, the humidifier, if you use one, will not work on DC. The DC adapter works great, but it just powers the machine. You'll need another whole rig with a large deep cycle battery and a pure sine wave inverter for AC to power the machine and the humidifier. One note, the Resmed DC adapter supplies power with inverted polarity comapared to everyone elses. Use only that one for the Vantage.
without humidifier
People react differently, but I found my sinuses rapidly tried to replace the mucus after being dried out overnight by the cpap or apap. This meant I had a very runny nose for an hour or so after I got up in the AM. I live in a really humid part of the country, so that was the extent of my issues for a night or so. Also, with apap the drying effect was less than on cpap because of the lower pressure for much of the night. Enjoy the trip, just keep the kleenexes handy in the morning!
Something else to try...
I have been on a CPAP for over a year now. I thought it would slow down my Scouting activities. I have been using one of those "jump start" boxes for mine and it works great. I am talking about one of those devices you charge up at home on 120 volt and then can jump start cars and stuff with. If you were to splurge and get one of the biggest ones out there it would still be under $100 and last for four-five days without needing charged. (depending on how long you slept each night) It's portable, quiet, and no more snoring in the woods, waking to be a bear!! I use my humidifier as a "passover" in the hills, with nasal pillows and have not had any problems. This setup lets me not worry about using up the RV battery on my sleep issues as well. But I can also charge mine up using 12 volt if needed.
