lips opening with new machine when not with others

Post by magicis » Tue Sep 22, 2015 5:50 pm

i did use the respironics M cpap, $30 special for some months now....min 7 max 15....with ahi averaging between 1.8-3.8 or so. system leakage between 25.9-a high couple of days of 37.7 and one 40.6, but usually in th low to mid 30s or 24.1, 27. 8, like that. 90% pressures from 8.5-11.....but those are just screen readings....using the airlift 10 nasal for her.
then i used my friend's S9 for one night, and it was so quiet...i had good results, and actually a block of almost 6 hours of sleep, so i found one on craigslist with 1811 hours and paid $200. for it....same model S9 as my friend's that i had tried....same settings as the trial one and my old M machine...and yet, this one blows my lips apart a couple of times a minute.....flub a dub, flub a dub....so of course no chance of sleeping....all settings are the same as for my old M, and same settings as the trial S9....always using my mask and even my tube....i did not have this problem with the M or the trial S9!!
what could be the deal? i finally went back to my old M for the last two nights to get some sleep....but would really like to use this slim new model that was so very quiet!for the more detailed stats if nothing else.... i did get to copy and paste the data from the one trial night with my friend's s9 below, but this is a real connumdum, as like i said, same exact settings!!! so not necessarily a mouth breathing issue, but trying to nail down the difference between this machine's pressure, which causes the problem, when the other two did not??!
any ideas?

Update...OP seems to (hopefully) have figured out a solution for the lip thing but is still having issues with the hose being an octopus and causing wake ups so I suggested some sort of hose management system and told her that I would post the links here.

Here's a collection of various DIY hose hangers/hose management systems.

I think I have some sort of hose management thing in my donated stuff...so I need to go check it out to make sure. If I do she can just have it.

Otherwise the other members here can offer what works well for them to give the OP an idea what might help.
So you all that use some sort of hose management (I don't) go ahead and share what works well for you while I go dig through some boxes to see what I might have.

I have a headboard with a post so I run my hose over the headboard and it fits right in the groove at the post. This keeps me from pulling on my machine and I haven't had a problem with rainout. So you might take a look at your headboard to see if that is a possibility.

I use the Cozyhoze Boss and I love it. I took the instructions from it and adapted it to fit my sleeping area. No more fighting with the hose it simply is above my head now. I love it.

I am unsure if this is the travel one or the regular one.

and here's the link for the CozyHoze Boss mentioned above.....I don't have this one
