Essential oils

Post by amybeth » Thu Aug 13, 2015 10:14 am

I have searched the threads here before I asked this is almost all of the questions I had were answered by doing that, but I still have 1. I have the ResMed S9 and am wondering what harm would there be in just putting a drop of essential oil directly on the black filter that fits into the back of my machine? Wouldn't that be easier?

Even a drop of oil will seep outward and gum up the filter - bad idea. Put the oil on a cotton ball just in front of that intake, never anywhere on/in the machine or water.

For aromatherapy. I will do what Julie suggested. Thanks Julie!

Some Tiger balm on a bit of tissue at the air intake helps me with breathing when my asthma acts up. It may be psychological but some of my asthma triggers are stress so anything that makes me relax is good.

your sig says you have a respironics, you claim to have a resmed s9, the s9 doesn't have a black filter.

not that it matters in this case, but you should figure out what machine you have, it will help in the future and prevent confusion.

Many plastics, including some sponges, react chemically with essential oils, creating disgusting, sticky GUNK.
Not a nice party with the case of your MACHINE or the varnish on your nightstand.
I like absorbent cotton, on a ceramic doll saucer, or a glass votive holder.

Long term exposure of airway and lung tissues to essential oils has not been studied.

The fragrances must be volatile to be carried in air, and be perceived as "scent".
Not all VOC's are hazardous. To imply this would be irresponsible.
Any essential oil needs to be tested while fully awake to eliminate any which may irritate one's unique system.
