Napping and CPAP

Post by Nadeaner81 » Sun Sep 28, 2014 7:35 am

Should I be wearing my mask during naps too?

100% of any time you sleep.

The answer is yes.... but don't worry about it if you don't.

It defeats the purpose of the nap if you don't have your cpap on.

For me, any nap without cpap is an accident, for which there are immediate consequences.
It is even worse than no nap at all.

Consider your personal circumstances in making that decision. If your sleep study report shows your apnea to be primarily during REM while supine, and you know your nap will be short, in a recliner, etc. then you may be able to get by without using it for a nap. It all depends on if you can expect to have events during your nap. If I sit upright to nap with my head and neck supported properly, I am fine to nap without the machine. But I try to not ever allow an exception for laying down. But that's just me. A nap is meant to be refreshing. If it is marred by apneas, it defeats the purpose, not to mention what it does to the body.
