Hose legnth

Post by Woody » Wed Apr 29, 2015 4:41 pm

I had to retire my 6 year old 10 foot hose yesterday. My new one is
only 6 feet long and for some reason my sleep quality was a little different
last night. Has anyone else noticed any difference switching to a different
length hose. I bet it's just a little of the new hose smell or the fact it's a
little stiffer than my old one but wanted to ask if it might be the difference
in length.

You don't say what machine you are using, but, on my ResMed S9 there are separate settings for different hoses.

I had a 10 footer years ago. I thought the same thing when I switched back to a 6 foot one. It had something to do with the heat being too high for me so I quit using the heater! Was fine then.
Morbius, are you bored?

if you don't have a hose length setting on your machine, (and, more importantly, hose diameter) then you're getting a little less pressure with a 10 foot than with a 6 foot, though it's not that big a deal unless you're using a bi-level machine.

there's just more resistance to flow with a 10 footer than a 6 footer.

myself, I just bought another 10 footer, they're cheap.

I tried it, it didn't make my CPAP hose any longer, it just became less flexible and more resistant to kinking

A ten foot hose does make a bigger pile of hose than a six foot one when they pile up. Jim
