I have the brick shown in this photo. It goes to a cigarette lighter plug, so I can't just attach it to a battery like that. I have a deep cell marine battery that I use for running my photo lights when electricity is not available. So, if the power were to go out, I could use that battery. Or do you recommend that I get a power pack with a cigarette lighter outlet? If so, how many amp hours should I get for it to run my s9 with humidifier for a full night. I am a mouth breather, and I run my humidifier on 5. If I forget to fill the water, I wake up when it runs out.

I did contact cpap.com as they do not sell the Resmed brand of that cable by itself, only in the kit. But they do sell the Respironics version by itself. They replied that I can use the Respironics section as I have the correct Resmed converter brick. So, I may do that.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

it doesn't have to be 'resmed branded' the one from amazon will work fine.

The best deal for a home backup is an appropriately large deep cycle battery. I prefer AGM over flooded batteries for safety and convenience and the price has come down some, especially on the smaller batteries. My objection to the alligator clips is purely safety - do you really want to be fumbling around with the clips in the dark when for under $10 you can can get a foolproof, safe, fused plug?zoocrewphoto wrote:

My setup is below - you can use any battery. Your usage may be over 30 Amp-Hours so my 35 Amp-hour battery might be small unless you can back off on the humidity a bit. But the are a variety of reasonable priced AGM batteries around 50-75 Amp-hours. I don't know of any battery pack that will do - Lithium "portable power" packs are usually limited by airline regs to about 10 Amp-hours. Portable jump starters are about 20 Amp-hours and have mixed reliability ratings. probably do to low price "all in one" construction. The best deal is a properly sized AGM battery and a quality charger.

Thanks. I have one deep cell battery. I will have to check what kind. I am planning to get another one soon as I need to run a projector at events, and the power usage will be higher than the lights I currently use with my battery.
I understand what you mean about the aligator clips. So, should I be getting these two items?

Exactly. Of course, the virtue of these cables increases when you add other components. For instance, the BatteryTender charger (and several competitors) output uses this connector; also a splitter allows more "taps" on the battery for other devices, etc. And if you need a high quality charger, the BatteryTender comes with the battery cables (not the socket) starting about $25. When you screw these onto the battery, make sure you connect the Red to the positive terminal (probably also red) and never connect two batteries together with them.zoocrewphoto wrote:CapnLoki wrote: The best deal for a home backup is an appropriately large deep cycle battery.
