PAP Pillows, Worth the $$$???

I'm thinking about how to be more comfortable with my new costume in bed at night. I've been looking at the PAP Pillow.

If any of you have the PAP Pillow, I'd like to know if they are comfortable to sleep with and are they worth the money?

I do not have one, but the common wisdom on the board seems to be:

1) They're expensive, but pretty good.

2) Buy the largest one, they're smaller than you think.

3) A "Memory Foam" pillow is better for some folks than the PAP Pillow.

Hi all,

I got one (the small, boomerang shaped one), used it a few nights and went back to my small (travel size) tempurpedic pillow. The memory foam pillow is contoured and supports my neck well when on my back, and I can turn it over and sleep on the edge on my side. I use a NasalAire II interface, and it doesn't seem to squash the small hose like the PAP pillow did. The PAP pillow feels hard to me, compared to the memory foam. I prefer a small pillow, always have, so that is why I got the small in both pillows. The travel size memory foam has the added benefit of rolling up into a small roll case so that you can take it with you when you go somewhere!

What is this memory foam stuff? Can you buy these pillows at Target?

I'm sure you can get these pillows at target. It's a foam that's kind of gooey/squishy and slowly springs back to the original shape. This material was supposedly used by NASA for the astronauts. Is nice for contouring around the head gear we all wear. The pillow I have is called a contour pillow. I think I got it at Kohl's.

Hi Heidi (I think that HHunt changed to Sleeping with the Enemy?),

I got mine on line at Brookstone. It wasn't cheap, but I have really liked it ($80.00)! I got the pillowcase, which always falls off -- I just use a big case with LOTS of extra room in it!

The subject line has the brand name. I suppose that others are available -- the Tempur-Pedic is what I have and like.

We each are put together uniquely, hence all the discussion about interfaces and other things on this forum. This pillow works well for me!

I like my cpap pillow. If you get one, I would also purchase an extra pillow case.

The mini pillow is designed for people with short necks. The other one is designed for people with longer necks.

The pillow is hard as a rock when you receive it. Be sure to fluff it up before using.

I also like my PAPillow very much. To me, it was worth the $70 or so. I am a 3/4 stomach sleeper. It's great for stomach sleepers, as it allows for the hose to hang down off the elevated pillow. As one poster already mentioned, you could do the same by folding your pillow in half (thus creating a ledge), but tossing and turning in the night will eventually return a normal pillow back to its original flat state and probably cause air leakage.

I have the PAPpillow too, but I can't tell you if I'm a for or an against. I rarely use the pappillow for the cpap mask and hose, but I use it constantly for everything else!. It's a great pillow when I'm sitting up in bed reading. It's a prop for my back when I'm lying on my side. It's perfect under my knee when that starts acting up (old injury, which bothers me at times). Anyway, I use the PAPpillow daily and love it - I just never use it for the pap!
If I wanted a pillow ONLY for the pap, I'd use what I use now - a very soft pillow which can be 'rolled' or shaped exactly as you need it each and every night. But for a darn useful anything pillow, the pappillow works great and I'm glad I spent the money on it.
