Confused
Confused
I have the Remstar Auto w/cflex, and have been trying to figure out the best range. Over the week it appeared that the upper level needed to be raised to 8.5 - 16.. (The upper level was hitting the upper limit and staying there)
Although all events are now in the range, my AHI went from 3ish to 6? The stranger part is that it is HI that is going up, not OI. (went from avg of 2 to 4?) When I had it set for 8.5 - 12.5 my AHI was 3.3

Re: confused
I thought the remstar recognized those as unresponsive's tho?Anonymous wrote:It may be that the higher pressure giving you central apnoea and auto not recognising it as central and not obstructive - therefore pressure staying up to compensate for apnoea -higher pressures can sometimes trigger centrals

Mike,
On your graph can you correlate a group of snores or increased leaks to the run up in pressure? This has been my experience. Funny thing is that when the machine is busy dealing with these false problems it seems to miss more of the real ones, giving me a higher AHI.

We need to start a list of threads for -SWS to comment on when he get's back from vacation. I hope he's well rested. What I have done regarding this unwanted pressure run-up is to reach over and hit the off button and then the heater button. If you just keep breathing the machine will reset itself at a lower pressure and you can go back to sleep. I do think I've been having some mouth leaks lately. Time to get out the tape! Or wait for that ellusive Activa Full Face.

Hit the Ramp button, it does the same without turning off the heater.wading thru the muck! wrote:We need to start a list of threads for -SWS to comment on when he get's back from vacation. I lowered my upper limit to 13.5 and my AHI went down to 4.4. Strange thing is that the snores went down also. I think the remstar is detecting mask leak noise as snore and pumping up the pressure which then increases the noise. (FF Ultra Mirage) causing an endless cycle...
I have the same machine, but I don't have the option to change mine. The DME set it up for me. Am I suppose to be able to check it out? There's a memory card in it, but I don't know what I am suppose to do with it or how long it's good for. Will it just stop working once it's filled up?
I is sooooooo confused, now......

Laughter never killed anyone..... Go ahead, laugh! It's good for you!!
Ok from what I have heard it has the last 7-9 days of detailed data, and I think 8-9 months of compliance data. You could have someone with the software read it for you, but on my version I don't get an option NOT to delete the data. (maybe someone else with encore software can chime in?)G00fy217 wrote:I have the same machine, but I don't have the option to change mine. The DME set it up for me. Mikesus, I didn't think to use the ramp button because I never use the ramp feature but sounds like it would work.
G00fy, Bring your machine and/or card along on Thursday. I'l bring my laptop and card reader along. I can save your data sheets as PDFs and burn them to a CD.

Exactly. If you are having events, it will crank right back up... Usually it is the higher pressure that wakes me, so hitting the ramp and dropping it to the lower limit allows me to get back to sleep... (found this totally by accident when fumbling in the dark to stop the machine from blowing my brains out my ears one night...)derek wrote:Mucklover,
The Ramp button on APAP mode simply resets the pressure to the minimum. There is no actual ramp.

Thanks derek,
I should have finished my sentence: :Sounds like it would work... to reset to the minimum pressure.
Just to recap, I was using the off button to reset the machine when the pressure ran up due to excessive snores or excessive leaks. Some time I'll post a graph from my data showing twice in one night the leak graph climb and the pressure graph climb and then the break where I hit the button. Twice in one night almost identical sequence.
Mikesus suggested using the ramp button to reset because it does not turn of the heater. (I'll have to add an addendum to my review) Thanks again Mike.
