The piece you are referring to is a permanent piece of the hose (the female rubber connector end) the hose in the picture is ResMed Slimline, if it were another brand hose it would still have the female end piece of the hose that is rubber and fits over the plastic male connectors from cpap machine or any mask.
Yes, my hose does have a rubber connector end, but still it won't snap in to my new mask.

Thanks for the replies. I will look closer at the hose tonight to see what brand it is.

Seems like I'm not the only person who has run into this; I did some googling and found this thread:

Did you see in that post that he had an extra hard plastic piece left in his tubing from the old mask? After removal his hose fit.

Yes. I'm going to look at it closely when I get home. I really want to try the mask.

all cpap hoses have soft squishy ends, they don't snap onto anything, ever.

if your hose end snaps onto something, then you've got a mask adapter stuck in your hose, just like the guy in that thread you linked.

Thank you all and PaleRider for the help. It was indeed a part stuck in the hose; it was tough to dig it out, but I succeeded.

Well, I am dissapointed, but it's only been one night. I don't feel any better than usual. Today I feel unrefreshed. That same cycle, one day fatigued but refreshed, the next day not fatigued by unrefreshed (I prefer the former). I'll try another tweak with the pressure; maybe that may help.

Thinking of going the oral device route. Perhaps the "silver standard" might benefit me more.

You could be having leak issues but you won't know because your machine doesn't give you leak data.

Maybe. But since my funds are limited I have to live with that.

you keep saying that... *how* limited are your funds? perhaps instead of just complaining and talking about what you CAN possibly do, someone(s) here may be able to help you.

one of our folks is always looking at craigslist all over the country, and sometimes amazingly good deals can be found.

what's your budget for feeling better?

I've had some really good days last week, but a couple not so good. Like today, I am so sleepy. Its a different feeling too; not the deep body fatigue that I felt before, but just sleepiness. Its really hit or miss with this disease. Also, it seems that when my AHI is a bit higher, I feel better. When its around 3, I feel better that when its in the 1 range.
