S9 ASV (VPAP Auto)

Post by Guest » Mon Jan 12, 2015 5:49 pm

I posted another question about my AirCurve 10 ASV having a loud noise and whirling sound/vibration. My DME is trying to tell me that the S9 Autoset Cpap that I had wouldn't be as loud as the ASV model, which is why the Aircurve ASV is louder than my S9 even though it is supposed to be quieter than the S9. Does anyone have the S9 ASV and can they tell me if theirs has a whirling sound or other noise? My S9 was nearly silent and my A10 is very loud. This is not coming from the mask, but from the actual unit. I will see if I can record it and upload tomorrow.

I've had one ResMed S9 auto and one PR auto, then later a couple of PR and ResMed ASVs, plus a couple M-series antiques. That's a bunch of machines, (it's long story). They all seemed to operate at about the same noise level, at least l as far as I could tell, however I didn't put a dB meter on any of them. None of them kept me up at night.

Truly excess noise usually means a defective machine in terms of the blower, bearings or air seals. However, what's excessive noise to one individual could be whisper quiet to another user. I've heard it all a dozens of times on CPAPtalk, so it's really hard to get a fix on what is 'too noisy'. If it's really become a big issue for you, you could send it into Accurate BioMed - CPAPtalk member" 'accurate'. I've sent stuff to them and they do reliable work at fair prices.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Couldn't you just return it to your DME?

I called my DME, but they said they think it is the ASV causing the noise. They are coming out on Friday to listen, but I may bring it in to test an S9 ASV to see if that is any quieter. Thanks
