Stupid question from fairly new CPAP user.

Post by beachlover » Tue Jan 06, 2015 8:49 pm

I got a bill in the mail from CareCentrix for $119.00. I guess my insurance did not pay the full amount for my 3 month supply. I was under the impression that if you were using the machine the supplies were covered by insurance. (Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal). Should I expect to pay this amount every three months? I am not sure how and why CareCentrix is billing me the supplies came from Medi home.

You need to take that up with your insurance provider. There are literally thousands of insurance plans and they vary from state to state and according to the contracts with the businesses/governments.
We have NO idea what yours provides for.
Do you have the paperwork (contract) with the DME? Read it and see what it says.

Thanks Den, I will call tomorrow. It just seems like such a rip off for the little bit they sent me. I might be better off not dealing with a DME provider at all.

You should not let your DME send supplies automatically. You should call and order when you need something. What are they sending every 3 months. With most insurance there is a co-pay of 20-25%.

They sent me the long climate hose, the short hose that hooks to the face mask, a new nasal pillow and two filters.

I quit my old DME when they started the auto order. You had to leave a "yes" or "no" answer on a recording and would get all supplies whether you needed them or not.

Carecentrix is a pricing network for your insurance company. when your insurance uses Carecentrix your dme sends their bill to Carecentrix, Carecentrix adds their fee onto it before they submit the claim to your insurance company and bills you. The Dme does not bill you, dme gets paid from Carecentrix not you, your insurance pays Carecentrix. You do need auth with Carecentrix.

Do not pay the bill until you get an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) from your insurance company.
