preventing bruising on a nasal mask

Post by fmj13 » Sat Dec 06, 2014 8:07 pm

Since the first few weeks I was on CPAP over 7 years ago, I have only used nasal pillows. I initially used something that was a gel full face mask, but it caused bruising on the bridge of my nose. I would like to try a nasal mask, but I am worried about the bruising again being an issue. Any suggestions?

there are so many different one and everyone has a different one that they love/or hate as the case may be .
My wife is using and likes this one:

I prefer the swift FX pillow mask my self.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

I have been using the Swift FX for 4 years, but it is not perfect.

Have you see the newer nasal masks? Much lighter than those old gel mask from years ago.
Like the Respironics Wisp, F & P Eson or the Swift FX Nano?
The Nano cushion will fit on the Swift FX nasal pillow headgear you are currently using so only need to get the cushion if you wanted to try it.
I haven't seen the Eson to offer much other than it's available but I have tried both the Wisp and the Nano. I rather liked the Nano which was a big surprise to me.

How can I figure out what size to buy for the Nano?

I've tried the Resmed N10 nasal mask, and the F&P Eson nasal mask, and for me the Eson was the cats meow ,more comfort and less leaks.
I'm very new to CPAP only 3 weeks and I can't believe there was so much difference in those 2 mask, to me the therapy is a piece of cake but the comfort of the mask is everything IMO
What works for one doesn't for another.
Good Luck

There's a downloadable printable template to check sizing.

found at the product page at cpap.com upper right just above replacement parts

If you are worried about buising the mask just treat it gently. I have been using my Wisp for 6 months now and never bruised it yet. And it has never bruised me either. I just received my second one.
