Proving you are Compliant
Re: Proving you are Compliant
I bought my machine for the 20% copay and my insurance has never asked for compliance... my doctor probably reported it at my one month visit but that's the only time they might have even known. I could've sold it the next day ... which is of course what the compliance Nazis are really concerned about... I guess my guys trust me.
But I had an interesting conversation at a party last weekend... neighbor of friend worked in the compliance department of an insurance company! Talked about all the ways they verify compliance for all kinds of different DME devices. We joked that one day we'd all have RFID chips to record how much walking we do, how many minutes on the elliptical machine at the gym, how much TV we watch... it's coming.

Leave it to insurance companies to do anything--ANYTHING AT ALL, to avoid or delay
paying a legitimate claim. I say this from experience.

Most of us can only go by what we read on the forum (regarding other parts of the world). Or, what we've experienced in our own lives.mgaggie wrote:health insurance in the US is strange to me.

I think most of us will agree that it's "strange" here in the U.S., too.......and getting stranger.
Insurance companies are in the business to make money......not lose it. And, typically, government-run insurance is not efficient and wastes money or skimps on service to the people.

Re: Proving you are Compliant
I reached my compliance for my machine, but my DME is too stupid to read the compliance policy for my BCBS correctly, so they say I still need to work on compliance, even though the policy clearly states "70% use at least 4 hours a day, for 30 consecutive days, within the first 90 days" but the idiots at the DME insist its 70% for the entire 90 days.
And they wonder why I won't let them near my machine for any reason...

Re: Proving you are Compliant
I started private health care earlier this in preparation for surgery for next year (the public waiting list is 5 years), so I looked into getting an APAP and giving back that brick to those morons at the hospital. With the level I have they will cover 80% of the purchase price and I just have to provide them with a prescription (no problem there I have my GP, and psychiatrist and even a dentist). So the big question is ...... do I buy the machine hear in Australia for $2,200 or buy in the US for approx $600 plus $50 postage (my fav machine is multi voltage)?
Re: Proving you are Compliant
pretty sure they're ALL multi-voltage these days...mgaggie wrote:(my fav machine is multi voltage)?

Never looked into other brands. I just know there are a few brands that won't allow shipping overseas.palerider wrote:pretty sure they're ALL multi-voltage these days...mgaggie wrote:(my fav machine is multi voltage)?

If I buy an APAP, I'm 99% sure I'll stick with the F & P Icon series, as I love the compact size and built in humidifier.
Re: Proving you are Compliant
ah, I was going to suggest secondwindcpap.com, they ship internationally.mgaggie wrote:I'm sure there arepalerider wrote:
