Post by Bernadette Maria » Wed Oct 15, 2014 5:01 pm

Hi i have just started using a cpap machine and each morning I take notice of the AHI readings, Perodic breathing readings etc., sometime the perodic breathing says 1%, though recently it says 7% What percentage should I be concerned about?

It depends on what else might be going on with that Periodic Breathing...what other apnea events that might be happening with the PB.
You probably should get the software and look at things in much closer detail than just that number off the LCD screen.
1 % is nothing to worry about...7% all the time and I would for sure want to evaluate what is going on.

Often awake breathing can get flagged by mistake for PB. I have seen that myself. So we would eliminate any awake breathing if you are sure you were awake during flagged PB times.
If the PB has a lot of Clear Airway (Centrals) events associated with it then we need to take a closer look.
It may not mean anything at all...might just be a little waxing and waning of your own breathing but would be a good idea to look at the detailed daily data to make sure.
