aussie hose on/off switch

Post by herefishy » Sun Oct 05, 2014 6:16 pm

The one thing I never have liked about my aussie heated hose is there wasn't an on/off switch. After looking around a bit, I found a switched outlet at Home Depot for 6.99. Looking forward to not fumbling around tonight to plug the 2 pieces together.

Cuz we all know people with OSA have poor memories I also added a timer to my power strip.

Hibernite is patterned after the same heating elements that are used in reptile cages to keep snakes and lizards warm around the clock, year long. Several years ago before Hibernite, CPAP folks were routinely using those reptile heaters to warm up their hoses, with some odd story to boot . Those low wattage reptile heating circuits are meant to remain on all the time, 365 days a year, and have been used for fifty years or more with no problems. If you want to turn it off you don't need a switch, just unplug it at the hose cuff. If you forget for a day or two, no big deal.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

AAAH, no fumbling around in the dark - just hit the switch. Problem with a power strip is that I have other things on it that I don't want to turn off. But the switched outlet works fine.

It is a big deal if/when they are left on - the risk of fire. Read some of the repti heater threads to understand.

I used the timer in the power strip just for the heated hose. It is all in the way things are connected.
