The interesting thing was that the machine could automatically determine sleep just as well as three experts because the experts disagreed with each other a lot, so the machine was no worse than the experts.
This paper is really worth reading.
The expert evaluation of your sleep study can vary widely depending on the expert.
I suppose they are more accurate then those who hope to foretell the future through tarot cards or the examination of entrails.
Very interesting paper on evaluating sleep EEG patterns

Re: Very interesting paper on evaluating sleep EEG patterns
But, even a robotic machine programmed to parse data and come up with a diagnosis/evaluation/recommendation does that via a program designed by a human coder. IOW, the machine will use the same formula religiously but different sleep Dr.s probably will differ a little bit, even from day to day. That essentially just makes the machine's opinion just one more opinion.
If the algorithm could be so comprehensive and well-designed to put the average sleep Dr. to shame, IOW, be an algorithm carefully designed on whatever the "best" medical diagnosis and opinion possible, then it may have value beyond a sleep Dr.
But that would be difficult to accomplish in itself.
And we probably should not forget that there is a good reason that they refer to this as a medical "practice".

I'm shocked by the conclusion of this paper Sleep experts, professors, sleep lab technicians and doctors all disagreeing on polysomnogram evaluations! How can that be?
Just kidding, it's complicated stuff and there will naturally be differing opinions. Thanks for the great paper... IMO, it simply illustrates the need to take charge of your own therapy (if you can handle the complexities involved).

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
