Humidity higher with or without heated tube?

I have a horrible sinus infection with side effect of positional vertigo. I actually missed my first night of cpap on Tuesday night. I did an hour at the beginning(AHI 22)before vertigo got too bad. I am wondering if the heated hose lowers the actual moisture that gets to my nose. I have it set on three with the heated hose but it seemed a little dry. We had a major rain storm last night so outside humid and probable room air, thunder just now so more tonight). What is my best choice or is there no difference. I breath much better on the cpap then without even when it didn't seem moist.

A setting of 3 for the humidifier when using the heated hose...that means a setting of 3 in the clinical setup menu and not the setting of 3 accessed with the turning of the knob when out of the clinical setup menu....means 90% humidity to be delivered.
When the heated hose is attached the only setting available on the fly (outside the setup menu) is for temperature.
So if you are using the heated hose and the humidity setting is 3 in the clinical set up menu....that's the most humidity that you can get. From my own personal experience I think that with the heated hose that setting of 3 gives more than Classic mode setting of 5 but you might try it. Do you know about Classic Mode? Classic mode is available but you have to turn off the new system one humidification mode in the setup menu which is the default mode if a non heated hose is used.

Be warned though, classic mode negates the anti-rainout feature

Will stay with what I have then. Which is 3 on clinical and 3 on hose. Worked well last night nose 90% clear this AM brain was not top notch when deciding what to do. I did know about classic but remembered rainout issue and thought it would make me move more in bed hence more vertigo. Thanks so much for input!

I feel for you with the vertigo issues. Been there myself on more than one occasion. Sure gets annoying real fast.
Hope you get past it quickly and it doesn't return.
And yes...Classic mode is a prime recipe for rain out and why I wouldn't advise it unless no other option is available.

Are they sure of the exact origin of your vertigo?

Hi islandwoman - I had positional vertigo a couple of years ago, and did Epley exercises to treat and eliminate it. If you search the internet for the 'Epley maneuver,' you will find YouTube videos and additional info on how to do these exercises at home. A lot of sites tell you that this should be done by a professional, but not true - you can't hurt yourself by doing it at home. Just be sure to do the exercise laying down, preferably in bed or a comfortable spot. I did the exercises for a couple of days, and the vertigo was gone.

SleepyEyes read my mind, that's exactly of what I was thinking. However, the Epley maneuver has its limits and only works for a very limited range of vertigo causes, so you may or may not fine relief with it. I must disagree with SleepyEyes regarding it being done by a professional. It really should only be done by a professional as with certain pre-existing conditions, and sometimes not even in that case (spontaneous arterial dissection), you could be severely injured if done incorrectly.

Thanks for the responses to the vertigo issue, I believe it is caused by the sinus infection. Did not hear well in my right ear and determined that is the vertigo culprit by moving my head in bed. Have had a very mild cases several times in the past always with sinus infections. I will wait it out as it is now very mild and only when in bed and arising. I even seem to be able to slow it by focusing on a single spot. In any case now it is only irritating, nothing like the first episode which lasted most of the night.
I found another method, similar to the Epley, called the Half Somersault or Foster Maneuver. Have never used it but it seems easier and not so severe to the neck. I now feel cold air in my right ear but will try that if I don't continue to improve on antibiotics.
My mother and husband suffered from Meniere's disease but I seem to have escaped that.
