Leak rate

Post by Sclark08 » Thu Sep 25, 2014 11:47 am

Lately (last 2 weeks) my sleepyhead software indicates a leak rate above 20% several times a nite but Vpap s9 auto shows a smiley face indicating good mask fit? How can it be both?

Is it possible that you are reading 20 Lpm as 20%?
Even 20 Lpm over the expected rate is not large leak territory so the smiley face is probably correct.

without seeing your charts is tough to give a conclusive response

Here are 2 possibilities;

#1 I suspect that you may have had some leaks related to your sleeping position that only lasted a few seconds

#2 Resmed & sleepyhead will show a 24ml leak line... as long as 95% of the time you are below that during each night... your machine can compensate for any issues with leaks.

sleepyhead doesn't report leak rates in percentages.

perhaps it's saying that the time over the leak threshold is 20% of the night.

not sure what she's talking about though.
