Question about my REMstar auto A-flex - newbie
Question about my REMstar auto A-flex - newbie
So I have been using the unit for 2 weeks and it is great. It has a modem and the DME said they monster use with it for the insurance and can made remote adjustments (?). Also explained I scan bring my SD card to doc at intervals. Doc specified a range of pressures for them to set it for auto for 2 weeks then evaluate for compliance and if I needed a bipap instead.
See in manual there are numerous things that can be checked by patient if it is set that way, but it seems that mine is set to bare bones. I am not worried about trying to adjust things on my own but don't feel comfortable about not even knowing what pressure it is saying I need most of the time.
Any suggestions? Don't have a follow up with either doctor or DME inspite of Rx saying 2 week eval. Should I call one or the other? What should I be asking for?
Thanks!

Do you have a copy of your RX? Your pressures should be specified there so that DME can set it up. If you do do not have a copy of the RX, ask your doc or DME for one. You are entitled to it, and you should have a copy anyway for when you travel with your machine in case you need to pick up a forgotten element of the setup, such as a mask. There is a link that some of the forum members have that will offer the "secret" guide to getting into the clinician's manual... I don't have that link.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.
Re: Question about my REMstar auto A-flex - newbie
I looked at cpap.com and the machine I have is the one that was replaced by the REMstar 60. The features appear to be the same with the exception of the heated tube vs plain one. Don't think the DME was giving me junk but maybe getting rid of the old merchandise. I will ask for a swap. Always get the milk with the later date on the carton
The manual says that it has other features to be able to access at the discretion of the provider.
I will take your advice and learn more about how to adjust but for now I know that it is set in auto mode and has a range of pressures. Have no idea what my pressure is . BTW I do have a copy of Rx. Have appreciated all the helpful info on this forum

I'd suggest getting a copy of sleepyhead from sleepfiles.com/SH and using it to download the data from the sd card.Sleepysuz wrote:So I have been using the unit for 2 weeks and it is great. it won't hurt the data on the sd card, (sleepyhead *never* writes to the sd card) and you can see *all* the data from the machine.
Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

take the water chamber out and turn the machine over, look on the bottom of the blower part *the bit with the knob and button) and look for a "REF" number... what is it?Sleepysuz wrote:I looked at cpap.com and the machine I have is the one that was replaced by the REMstar 60. That's one of the top two or three machines currently available, and the latest model PRS1 Auto machine. Be happy.Sleepysuz wrote:560P
I wouldn't tinker with the therapy settings until your doctor is through tinkering with your settings. Even if it's unlikely he'll really pay attention to the data that much, give him the chance to do it right. However, it should be safe to change the settings that involve display of data. Is it "Show AHI/Leak/PB" that you're talking about?
It's safe to get SleepyHead and read the data from the SD card. You have to take the modem off the back of the machine to get to the SD card. Most of the info is stored on the machine itself as well as the SD card, so it's not a disaster if you somehow mess up the modem or SD card for a while.

Since you have the 560 machine it may or may not already have the necessary upgrade to use the optional heated hose.
It's not a big deal if it doesn't have the special lid or power supply. I upgraded my 60 series machine myself.
Check the brick power supply to see if it is 60 watt or 80 watt. If it is 60 watt then it will need to be upgraded to 80 watt.
Also a different lid to the humidifier that has a little slot for the electric source to heat the hose.

Your DME should have these available.
Watch the video here below explaining how to get into the clinical setup menu so you can turn on the "Show AHI" setting and then you can look at the limited data on the machine's LCD screen.
But to be honest I never mess with the LCD screen for data because I prefer to use the software available. Check out my signature line for information on software that is available.
