Several months ago on CPAPtalk, I read a post (or maybe it was a reply) from somebody who said their heart dysfunction had caused their insomnia… they then went on to say that once their heart issue was treated (Leaky valve? Arrhythmia? I don’t exactly remember) that their insomnia completely went away. They were still using their CPAP machine to treat their OSA, but the autonomic related centrals backed off so much that that person was able to sleep soundly. Sadly, I thought I bookmarked it, however I can’t find it anywhere Anyway, I want to find that person or at least get input from others on the topic. If you don’t want to bring up your heart issues on the forum, you could PM me and I would appreciate that too.
I looked online for this insomnia/heart issue stuff but only found PLMD (periodic limb movement disorder) as a known problem related to heart disease. I also did see something online about junctional rhythm:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junctional_rhythm
Anyway, if somebody else has experienced the same type of problem or knows someone who has dealt with this topic, I’d like to hear from you.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I don't remember a post that you mention.
Does the first paragraph here help answer your question:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-cond ... n-20020286
High blood pressure or heart problems.
Sudden drops in blood oxygen levels that occur during sleep apnea increase blood pressure and strain the cardiovascular system. If you have obstructive sleep apnea, your risk of high blood pressure (hypertension) is greater than if you don't. The more severe your sleep apnea, the greater the risk of high blood pressure. However, obstructive sleep apnea increases the risk of stroke, regardless of whether or not you have high blood pressure. If there's underlying heart disease, these multiple episodes of low blood oxygen (hypoxia or hypoxemia) can lead to sudden death from a cardiac event. Studies also show that obstructive sleep apnea is associated with increased risk of atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure and other vascular diseases. In contrast, central sleep apnea usually is the result, rather than the cause, of heart disease.
There is no Insomnia mentioned. Only sleep apnea.

Re: Anybody remember who said heart issues led to their insomnia
I agree with the paragraph from the Mayo Clinic that Avi123 posted. The paragraph is almost verbatim of what my cardiologist told me. I had afib a few months ago and a cardioversion to reset my heart. My rythm is still normal, I've only been on cpap a few months. The cardiologist referred me to a sleep Dr and I had a split night sleep test done at a sleep lab. The test showed severe sleep apnea with oxygen levels dropping as low as 58%. I am otherwise healthy and I have no other heart or blood pressure problems. The sleep apnea put a huge strain on my heart.

Re: Anybody remember who said heart issues led to their insomnia
I got a wonderful lengthy PM from a certain member who wishes to remain anonymous until more time has passed since their stent procedure. The positive results were immediate and seem to indicate that there is a linkage between insomnia/poor quality sleep and unrepaired heart damage (from their personal experience, even tho their decade long CPAP usage was working fine for treating OSA). Thanks so much, to a certain someone. Just thought others might like to know.
