decrease in positive reaction

Post by charleyhorse » Sun Aug 17, 2014 8:34 am

After I adjusted to the mask, took me three days, I was very luck, I noticed a definite difference. My mood was better, my fatigue was a lot less, I stayed asleep longer with no wake time. After the first month, things seem have gone backwards quite a bit. Especially with my mood. Has anyone else experienced this? And what did you do? I have also developed a rash where the mask rest on my face. Thanks

Charleyhorse.

You will get better information if you register and post your equipment, etc.

Things to do:
If you are new to CPAP therapy there are some helpful things to do:
1. Get a copy of your sleep study and your sleep titration study. They have interesting information that will help in understanding your own therapy
2. Get a copy of your prescription for your own records. It will be necessary if you choose to change DME's or order online
3. Post your equipment. There is a link on how to do this in my signature block below. Please select TEXT as a display choice as many CPAP machines and masks appear similar but are significantly different
4. If you need to post images of your reports, there is a link in my signature block on how to post using PhotoBucket.com
5. If you are using or want to know about Adaptive Servo Ventilator (ASV) machines, be sure to include ASV in the subject line
6. While the LCD display is somewhat useful, it is better to use one of the reporting software programs to get detailed information on your therapy. The two available for Respironics machines are: Encore (Basic or Pro) and SleepyHead.
7. If you are looking for software, mention it in the subject line. In the text, indicate what operating system runs on your computer as that may affect what software is available for you.
8. If your machine is not made by ResMed or Respironics list it in the subject line as "Need help with ZZZ Pap Auto".

What kind of mask do you wear? Mask liners can be used--unless you wear nasal pillows.
If your machine shows leak data, you can tell if mask parts degradation may be affecting your therapy.
If your machine shows event data (AHI, etc.) you can see if your events are under control.
Aside from that, it is not uncommon to feel "down" a few weeks in as your body adjusts to
lower levels of stress hormones (they make you feel "normal" while they damage your organs/brain)
Hang in there. Everyone finds a few rocks in the road.

After a month it's hard to get a pattern. I go thru monthS where my therapy seems to be worse... then I'll go through monthS where I feel great. I say give it time.
