I did a new sleep study for our new insurance. The person who did the study was obviously a trainee. Had to ask some others who just happened to be there where to hook some of the wires and when he did the tritration, could not find a hose and a mask and had to borrow mine which I had only brought to show them what I currently used.
Weeks went by and no feedback. finally called some people over at the office and escalated the issue (been trying to get more supplies for 4 months +) Also told them I was going to have to stop using old machine due to mold. They eventually found the study and ordered me a brick. When I found out it was a brick I refused it, Got some supplies approved (which need to be changed as they specified nasal only and I am a mouth breather)
Got a prescription for a machine which I can order online out of pocket.
Then I read the Sleep study. Paraphrased, It says I did not sleep more than a few minutes, not enough to be accurate, blamed me not having a sleep schedule which fits their timeline, no REM at all, but based on the results I should not get a machine, but if I do I need only 6.1 CM.
So if they had read the study at all they would have asked for a new study or probably just denied everything.
PS. I started CPAP several years ago with a diagnosis from a anesthesiologist during a procedure. my previous sleep studies and APAP have been fairly solid on needing about 9 cm of pressure.

There's a good point here. More of us newbie victims of assembly line medicine need to start shopping around for sleep labs that meet our needs. We need to quit going to places that start the test at 9 PM when we normally can't get to sleep till 3 AM.

How dare you not be able to go to sleep upon command!!! What a terrible patient you are... You must have some sort of sleep disorder - oh, right, the whole apnea thing...
