Micromanaging therapy

Post by Tatooed Lady » Sun Aug 10, 2014 12:33 pm

I may be slightly obsessive with my therapy. I'm sure there's a group for people like me...oh, hey...this IS a group for those like me!! So I've watched my numbers in SH, which have been actually pretty darned GOOD, IMHO. The past week or so I've watched as the really low numbers in H/OA have climbed from a combined number of under 2 to roughly 4. A night or two doesn't bug me (much), but I'm the curious sort, as well as antsy about things I see happening, if I even SUSPECT that I can alter them. So, I bumped my pressure from 6 to 6.5 yesterday. I'm sure my DME would be just LIVID with my arrogance!! But, I took my numbers from the 2.5-4 range down to just over 1. SO...I'm currently amused. I'm easy that way. I'm having a bit of a time adapting to my sleep arrangements, which doesn't help...5-6 nights in my truck, followed by a couple nights at home, lather, rinse repeat. I also use nothing for a sleep aid, I've been trying to see the APAP as that.

I don't imagine I'll ALWAYS be this nuts, but for now, just call me Ms. Planters.

I have 0.5 to 0.9 most nights and then do a 1.5-1.9 for a couple of nights and them back to the low numbers. For a couple of nights, it may just be the nature of the beast. I would not worry excessively.

Fine business.

Tinkering is fine as long as you're careful. Just remember you can always go back to your original doctor approved settings. If you're "normal" about it, you'll lose interest in the fascination of the process and get back to a healthy level.

Some people do become obsessed and worry about it too much. To the point of causing unnecessary stress. Or changing things so quickly and wildly that they end up never finding the right setting because they try 3 things at once and change their settings the next day.

The biggest mistakes I see are people obsessing over slight changes in AHI, or obsessing over central apneas.

But there is no harm to revel in the novelty, and "geek out" all you like.
Even if the minutiae becomes old hat later, you can use it whenever you think you need to.
Congratulations.

sleep in the truck while at home?

set up a cot at home that's the same as your truck berth?
