still struggling with my vpap...what is vt and mv?

Still struggling to get used to my vpap (auto). They changed my settings after the last sleep study (my 4th one...ug). my machine (resmed I think) gives you data but I don't understand...
I just read what vt is...but what does it mean? My range is pretty large (one day 260-600) but I have no idea what that means...
What does mv stand for and what does it mean? This seems to vary...but since I don't have any idea what it stands for...3.6-5.2 or 3/6-5.1 etc...
My leak is within normal range most nights.

It will help if you are a bit more specific about what you actually have

The title implies a Respironics machine (bipap trafemark), the text describes a Resmed machine (vpap trademark) & your details show a puritan Bennett machine.

The meanings can vary between brands. But on a Vpap, vt is tidal volume = the volume of air you breathe in one breath. I average about 550ml. mv is minute ventilation = the volume breathed minute by minute. mv helps qualify vt.

The minute ventilation shows Litres / minute on a minute-by-minute basis. The tidal volume is shown as ml (millilitres) and reflects the amount of air being breathed each breath. My av is usually somewhere between 550 & 650 depending on some environmental factors but that is a good & healthy range.

but i am not using a ResMed VPAP Auto (was supposed to be a 1 month trial but i've had it for a few months now...I forgot to change it). same mask tho...

Your son is 7 years old if I remember from your other post.
Tidal volume (along with all respiratory functions) vary significantly with a person's size and obviously a 7 year old isn't going to have the same norms as a full grown adult.
Check with your doctor to make sure but I am pretty sure that 180 to 210 for a child is within the norms.
