Greetings. This is my first post. I have have been lurking here for about 2 weeks while I waited for my CPAP machine. I am so glad this hurry up and wait process is finally over and I can get to work acclimating myself.Took almost 90 days from first call to the primary care physician to today. A little info: 50 year old male, tested 14 years ago with incident rate in the high 50's per hour. Opted for correction of deviated septum and worked on weight loss. Symptoms came back in the past year (or just became impossible to deal with any longer) so I retested and hit an incident rate of 92/hour and pulse/ox dipping into the 40's% range. Also get up at least 5 times per night to urinate. No brainer decision at this point: get the CPAP.
Finally got my equipment after 2 weeks struggling with DME. Seems like top of the line stuff: ResMed S9 AutoSet w/ humidifier and climate line tube, Large Wisp nasal mask. Base on what I saw here I assumed that was it until the tech pulled out the wireless modem, that was the only real surprise. Must have missed that in my research. Anyway, got the equipment at 8:30 in the morning and felt like a kid at Christmas waiting for the next 12 hours to go to bed. Set up was a breeze. Knew I had a day off today so hoped to sleep in, rather than normal 5:30 wake up for work. No stress.
So All totaled, I slept 8.9 hours. Went to bed at 9:45 PM. Only got up once at 5:30 (more out of habit I presume) and then got another 1.5 hours. On screen data indicates good mask fit, AHI of 4.2 and a leak rate of 1 L/min. I need to understand if AHI of 4.2 and a leak rate of 1 L/min are good or bad and what I need to do to improve. I feel successful in that I did not remove the mask at all. Did not dwell on it much and got right to sleep. This morning i felt like I was in a bit of a stupor and I had a mild headache but I recall the Sleep Test tech saying that this might be normal at first. Also not sure I even need the ramp feature so I may turn off tonight. Also recall the Sleep Test tech suggesting that I seem to take to this like a duck to water based on her observations.
Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.
Yep, another duck to water. Congratulations.
I assume you are quoting numbers off the machine's LCD display. If so, the leak number is a 95% number and that means for 95% of the night your leak was at OR below that number. 24 L/min leak is where Resmed says the machine starts losing the ability to do its job optimally. The S9 machines report only excess leak....your 1 L/min is excellent. No need to worry about it at all. I don't think I have ever had that little of a 95% leak number.

When evaluating AHI it is most helpful to know the breakdown into event categories. Explained in the SleepyHead tutorial.
