OT: Great Dane pups' birth

Post by BleepingBeauty » Sat Aug 02, 2014 9:11 pm

There's a live webcast of a Great Dane about to give birth to the newest litter of service pups at a facility in Ipswich, MA. It's just after 11 p.m. on the east coast as I type, and it looks like the births will start happening soon. The mama dog's been nesting and is very restless.

You can watch it here if you like: http://explore.org/live-cams/player/gre ... puppy-room
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

Trying to watch but it seems to be stuck on a still shot. Maybe I don't know what I'm doing.

Ok - working now. Hope she does something before I go to bed.

Explore.org is a really cool site. I love watching the bears in Alaska.

Me, too. Of course, those of us on the left coast have a better chance of getting to see it live. The mama dog looks like she's ready to have it happen soon, too.

Agreed. They have a ton of different webcams running, so there's always something cool to watch.

Truth!

I went to bed before anything happened, but I'm glad you got to see it. Just woke now and mama appears tired but still in the process. I'm only seeing one pup in a lady's lap, but the comments would indicate she's had more. They must be off-camera with other volunteers.

Hopefully, more of us can catch another pup's birthday today.

ETA: I'm now seeing two pups that she had overnight. The comments (lower on the page) indicate she's just had the two so far. I'm surprised it's taking so long between births, but the commenters say it can take between 1-4 hours for each pup. Mama appears to be fine. I hope everything goes well with the remainder of the delivery.

Just came to this thread. You can still watch, there seem to be 4 puppies. Beautiful mama, and the puppies are cute. Fun watching them nurse.

Yep, she delivered four live pups total (two more were stillborn ). The two males were born overnight, and then it was hours and nothing else was happening, so the mama was taken to the vet this morning to have the remaining pups delivered. I read in the comments that the mama had a C-section before, but I guess she was able to deliver normally this time, as she's now back in Ipswich with her four pups (two males and two females).

They're adorable, and the cams are always running. So peek in and get your fill of "awww" whenever you need it.
