Respironics System One Humidifier - What's The difference?

Post by reader » Mon Jul 14, 2014 10:05 pm

On my DS560TS with Humidifier (includes Heated Hose).... In the "Prescription Screen" of Encore Basic, there are several understandable options provided, however two of the options seem to be in conflict..... They are "HUMIDITY LEVEL" and HEATED TUBE DISCONNECT: Humidifier SETTING.....

What is the Difference between the two Settings? The "HEATED TUBE DISCONNECT: Humidifier SETTING" is not shown in my Clinician Setup Manual.......

I assume the HUMIDITY LEVEL option is just that... the temperature of the Water itself, but then what is the Heated Tube Disconnect Setting for, as "TUBE TEMPERATURE" is already listed?

Thanks!

ANSWERED! System One Humidifier - What's The difference?

After several dead end calls to Respironics trying to get this answered, I finally today reached a very helpful engineer who solved the mystery!

In Encore Basic, as I mentioned in my original post, there are THREE (3) Option in The "Humidifier Settings" Tab that I found conflicting:

1) Tube Temperature (off-1-2-3-4-5)
2) Humidity Level (1-2-3)
3) Heated Tube Disconnect: Humidifier Setting: (Off-1-2-3-4-5)

The "Tube Temperature" Option uses sensors to measure The Relative Humidity and Temperature of the Room to automatically adjust the Tube Temp to limit Rain Out (Condensation internally in the tube)

The "Heated Tube Disconnect:Humidifier Setting is the MANUAL option..... YOU choose the temp for the Hose... no sensors are utilized.

Basically you must choose one or the other: Tube Temperature (off-1-2-3-4-5) OR Heated Tube Disconnect: Humidifier Setting: (Off-1-2-3-4-5)

One of these must be OFF! So Choose only One or the Other..... The "Tube Temp" is the better choice as it uses the system to reduce/prevent Rain Out .

He agreed with me that this should have been programmed so that one of the Options would automatically be disabled (Grayed Out) depending upon your choice. Of course this is only applicable if you have the HEATED HOSE Option.
