I've been using machines from three vendors this year, and the jury is still out on some aspects (doesn't help that a few of the machines weren't spec parity!).
One of my sleep doctors is in love with respironics, others prefer resmed for one reason or another. I was just wondering out of the users here that own and use machines from one of more vendor, which they feel gives them the best feeling sleep subjectively.
Multiple machine users, which has given you best therapy?

Why do you have multiple sleep doctors (3)? I think this is a meaningless poll...everyone is different...what works best for one may not work for others.

Actually, I like this question; and I've wondered the same thing more than once.
I have only used PR (nee Respironics), but I can say that I noticed a large and positive difference going to APAP over CPAP. I have wondered if a different brand of APAP might yield a different result.
If there are some here that have had different results w different brands (for essentially the same type of machine), this could be valuable info (although the response rate would need to be fairly high in order to get useable feedback).

Re: Multiple machine users, which has given you best therapy?
The only problem with the question is that most folks have only used one machine or multiple machines of the same brand. When I went to get a Resmed Vpap, the DME almost gave me a Respironics brand, but I waited out on the Resmed. I cannot comment on Respironics because I have never used it. I think Pugs has used both and I have read where she states they all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Re: Multiple machine users, which has given you best therapy?
I have used both the ResMed S9 brand and the Respironics brand. Started my therapy with the M Series Respironics APAP and moved up to the PR S1 50 series APAP in 2011 and then to the BiPap 50 series and now the 60 series BiPap.
Bought a S9 VPAP Auto a couple of years ago after using a PR S1 BiPap Auto just to see what all the hooplah about the ResMed S9 machines was all about. Even tried CPAP mode on it so I could see what the S9 Elite was like. Specifically wanted to test out ResMed's EPR exhale relief vs Respironics Flex exhale relief. The VPAP Auto can be used with settings to make it function like the AutoSet in APAP mode...tried it myself so that I could get a feel for how the AutoSet in Auto mode feels.
Bought a S9 VPAP Adapt in Dec of last year just because I was curious. Please note I don't have issues with centrals. It was just something I wanted to try and I ran across a good deal on a used one.
In terms of therapy effectiveness and how I sleep in general and how I feel in general....brand has never made any difference at all. The slight difference in the algorithm's of either brand have not seemed to be a factor in terms of how I feel or therapy effectiveness. Now I would imagine that there are a few people who it might make a difference but I think that the majority of the population would most likely do well with either brand.
Now there are a few minor pros and cons with either brand but none are deal breakers or makers for me.
Once Respironics came out with the 60 series heated hose to level the playing field with the S9 Climateline hose it became really a toss up for me. I like/need the heated hose feature due to my own preference for humidity needs and bedroom temps.
The majority of cpap users haven't had the luxury of actually getting to try multiple brands of machines and they only know what they are using. So this poll is really a very limited poll in terms of actual users who have had the opportunity to actually use more than one brand.
I can't vote because there is no selection choice for
"used multiple machines with no perceptible change in therapy effectiveness noted".

Re: Multiple machine users, which has given you best therapy?
A tremendously generous (and formerly frequent) poster here allowed me to try her Respironics autobilevel for a while so that I could compare it to my ResMed autobilevel.
I found that I got equally good therapy with both brands, even though the approaches and alogirithms are quite different.
Personally, I found the ResMed to be more comfortable for me but found the Respironics preferable in design. However, it is also my opinion that someone else might find the exact opposite to be true for their comfort and preferences.

Re: Multiple machine users, which has given you best therapy?
I have used both, but I really can't comment because I fired the Resmed DME after about a week because I found out they had given me an Escape. The next DME was much better, and they provided me with a Respironics Remstar Pro (not an APAP) that gave me the data. I have used that for 4.5 years, so I either like it or have gotten used to it! Anyway, how can you tell what is best therapy? Is it low AHI? Is it quietness? Is it lack of lights, especially blue lights, that keep you awake at night? The System One I have gives me all of the above, so why do I need to think about another make? If it ain't broke don't "fix" it, and if it is "broke" maybe with a few adjustments based on guidance received from the good folks on this forum, you can unbreak it - or break it in, whatever the term is.
