DME sent me an invoice

Post by kona0197 » Fri Jul 11, 2014 9:16 pm

So my DME sent me an invoice today for my mask that I had for 3 months. This is the first invoice i have ever gotten from them. I have had plenty of masks from this DME, my insurance covered all of them and I know they cover a new mask every three months. What should I do?

Call them up ask them to go with it line by line. Or go in person if your DME in person is a cool person. Bring your insurance stuff and the part that says it pays for all of it, especially, in your contract.

I had to call my therapist's office to get in vs out of network with my insurance sorted out this week with the biller, actually. They said that they've resubmitted it to be fixed and it should reflect in my account within the month...we'll see but they've been good to me in the past so I'm going to go with it.

My DME lags by about 8-10 weeks for CPAP supplies it seems, I wish they'd go a bit faster so it doesn't build up so quickly, I pay 20% for my DME stuff. Other than that though, they're rather amazing so I just make sure I keep money in my HSA earmarked when I see it from my Insurance Company's Explanation of Benefits in the mail.

I don't have any contracts. No paperwork that I know of. I was just told by my sleep Doctor that my insurance, Oregon Helth Plan Plus, covers all of my CPAP needs. No I am worried that I will not be able to get any new supplies. I have no income to pay this.

I would go straight to the source -- that is not your sleep doctor or the DME, it is your insurance company. Ask if they processed the claim, if they've changed their coverage, etc. If your DME billed you in error then your insurance company should know about it.

Yeah, doing that is tough. I always get the run around. I did call and leave a message for the DME. On Monday I will go down there. Funny thing is my insurance covered masks before that costs double of what this Airfit did.

Alright, I did a search on your health plan that you mentioned since I'm way over in Michigan, they have a page right here that should help explain things. My plan goes pretty differently...I'd give the phone numbers they gave a try. When you got the health plan did they give you a member card? That should have the info that the medical supply people need.

My insurance company told me to contact them if I ever received a bill from a provider for goods or services. Did you contact your insurance company?

Good luck when you contact your insurance company; someone there should be able to help you out.
