I used CPAP for about a year (off and on). I was not successful in adjusting to CPAP. I gave up for awhile. I am going it give it a try again.
I talked to my doctor about have a new sleep study done. I was thinking it should be a "titration" study. My pressure was set at 13, and I am wondering it that is why it leaks so much. So I want to make sure that is the right pressure. Also, I am hoping to try different types of masks, like full mask vs nasal mask.
So has anyone ever had a titration study?

Re: sleep study titration
Most of us have titrations to come up with the right pressure settings for our machines... A few don't have them when they either do plain old home studies, but go onto Apap machines to see what level they settle at in terms of pressure needs for 90-95% of the night. Why your mask leaks, however, has nothing at all to do with that, unless it's a very flimsy one that cannot 'take' even a pressure of 13, and other masks should therefore be tried, or at least the original be readjusted.

Most of us have had titration studies.
For your personal records you should get:
1. The first sleep study report
2. Your Prescription.
3. The Titration sleep study report for the upcoming study.
Your should also post your equipment profile. There is a link on how to do that in my signature block below.

Re: sleep study titration
Most people get the titration done immediately following the "diagnosis portion" (Dx). Are you sure you never had one?Amers605 wrote:I used CPAP for about a year (off and on). I was not successful in adjusting to CPAP. I gave up for awhile. I am going it give it a try again.

You can get a "Mask Fit" done at your sleep center w/o going thru the whole nites study. Make a list of the masks you want to try then contact your sleep center to make sure they have those masks in stock.

The sleep study I had done was the half and half - diagnostic and with CPAP. I did not sleep much during that time, so I am thinking an all night titration could be helpful.

I do not currently have any equipment since I "gave up on CPAP" for awhile.JDS74 wrote:Most of us have had titration studies.

Re: sleep study titration
Most of us feel we don't sleep much during studies, including titration, but if the people who did your study didn't think they had enough info, they would have arranged for another titration (the 2nd nite part of things), so they must have had enough to go on. In any case, it's something to be discussed with your doctors, as we can't comment on what actually happened to you, but what concerned me was whether you're on Apap or straight Cpap, and that you seem to be confused about what causes leakage - it's a mask issue, not a machine issue.
