FINALLY got the Rx...

Post by Tatooed Lady » Mon Jun 23, 2014 10:22 am

The sleep center I got set up with FINALLY had someone on the line with me who listened through to the end of my questions, and I finally got my prescription faxed to the house. One question I have about it though...there is no "duration of need" checked off. I would think that "other" would be a good line for them to mark, with a suggestion that if/when OSA symptoms are gone, I can discontinue use. Is the non-commitment normal?
In any case...I THINK this means I can look deeper into getting set with a FFM. Yay! (that is so twisted to say.)

Actually the no "duration of need' being NOT checked is a good thing. It means your prescription won't run out and you can basically get supplies when you need them, wherever you need them. If using insurance, you will need to obviously go thru your insurance company's 'in network' if they have one. If you are paying out of pocket, you can just provide this RX & purchase the mask of your choice.

Its good to keep a copy of the RX with you at all times. If you are on the road & something on your mask breaks & you don't have a back up with you, its possible to locate a DME close to your route, then stop in for a replacement. I would not count on them having what your want, but any mask is better than no mask, especially in your line of work, there is a lot of stress with the 'no CDL, no work" always hanging over you. I would suggest buying out of pocket an extra mask to have with you for that 'just in case' so you have the comfort of knowing you are covered in case of emergency.

Having a copy of your RX gives you freedom not all CPAPers have, at least those with difficult Drs, like mine, that is why everyone here says - get a copy of that RX. Glad you got it.

Jen

Thanks, Jen. I'm amazed that I managed to pull something else positive out of this. Good thing, though...I'm fighting for every bit of info and every option I can find, just so I don't have to deal with a lousy DME. Which is probably why they have been so close mouthed with me. But, like every other business I've dealt with, whether car dealers or shoe stores...If I get treated like dirt, they can kiss my money GOODBYE.

Not twisted at all. You want to feel better and live now; and live longer. That's normal. Good for YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
