Cure for the common cold???

Post by loring6 » Fri Jun 06, 2014 7:23 pm

I have been using a cpap for about 5 years and in that time I have not had a bad cold. That is quite unusual for me because prior to that I would ususally get at least 2 bad colds a year with sore throat, congestion, cough etc. Since I've had my CPAP when I get a little congested, I get a good nights sleep and maybe take a long nap the next day....and I'm well!! This has happened several times and I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

As I have only been on cpap therapy for a little over a week, I can't vouch for your findings. I have noticed that since I started working from home I get sick a lot less often (probably because I don't have coworker germs to contend with).

I doubt that you have found a cure for the common cold. However, poor sleep weakens your immunity, among other things. So, it makes sense that getting better restorative sleep probably makes you less susceptible to viruses. I'm no scientist, mind you.

Amazing what the body can fend off if it's well rested. Shorter duration and less severe colds for mee too.

Yes, although most of my "colds" were apparently allergies;
and most were prevented after I went on a year-round antihistamine regimen.
(my seasonal allergies were all year long)
Now any little stuffiness I may have is usually quelled by putting the mask on.
If I'm too stuffed up for pillows, the Wisp does the trick.
