What Machine is best for traveling.

Post by patrickfamily » Sat May 31, 2014 9:54 pm

Hello I wanted to post another questions. I am going to go to the supply store on Monday to find a machine, I do travel frequently for work and will need a unit that is easy to pack away and set up. Is there any particular brand or models I should be looking at. Do most people just have one unit? What about battery units for camping etc... One more unusual question, I have a Goatee and was wondering if I need to shave it off or does it work with the mask?? Thank you for any advice you may provide.
Happy Sleeping,
Doug

Facial hair can present a challenge but people get it done. There are guys using full face masks with full beards.
So you may or may not need to shave the goatee ...it all depends on the the mask chosen and your face.

I don't know if "most" people have a travel machine or not. I doubt it. Insurance will only pay for one machine every so often.
A good number of people do have a backup machine..a second machine to have handy in case of machine failure and often they will use that back up machine as a travel machine.
Some people do elect to get one of those pint sized travel machines and use it as a back up and travel.
Personally I don't want to risk different quality therapy with the pint size machines. Humidity is critical to me along with some other features. So my preference for a backup/travel machine is simply the same sort of treatment I have been getting all along. How I feel is more important to me than suitcase space or toting around the cpap machine.

If you are into camping off the grid and might be using a battery system...stick with the Respironics machines PR System One models. They are 12 volt already...ResMed S9 is 24 volt and you have to buy an extra attachment to convert to 12 volt and it isn't cheap. Now if your idea of camping is with full electric available at campsite...then that is a different story.
