ASV and PLMS

Post by Frebell » Thu May 29, 2014 12:41 am

What is the level of codeine that could produce unstable breathing needing treatment by ASV?. Or is it the PLMS producing the instability?. Using codiene to treat PLMS when Sifrol breaks are needed. Thanks

I can see the effects if PLMS on my breathing charts. The PLMS causes a partial arousal which shift me into that just starting to wake up phase which generates "false" centrals which the ASV reacts to with triggered breaths.

I'm not on medication for my PLMS right now so the effect is entirely the PLMS.

Can't speak to the ASV or the specific contributors that can cause its need. Just want to throw out there that I have been treating my limb movements solely with a TENS Unit for over 3 years now. It's been more effective for me than any of the meds I used for over 10 years. If meds are causing complications in breathing and/or sleep and a non pharmaceutical route is needed to stabilize breathing, maybe the TENS is worth considering. Also, some meds can actually cause limb movements. Taking a med to stop what another med causes is a particularly slippery slope. Just hoping someone tormented by limb movements might take away some tidbit that in the end helps them improve their sleep. I know well how miserable this sleep disorder can be.
