Coffee Thoughts
So, pre-CPAP, I basically drank coffee all day long. If I went a couple of hours without coffee, I would feel like death warmed over, and drank until late in the evening. Now, on CPAP, I've cut back a bunch, but still drink a lot by most standards (3 12 oz cups on a normal day, 4 when I'm feeling really tired; usually nothing after about 3 pm so I don't have trouble falling asleep); I've heard arguments that this is fine; coffee is generally not bad for you, I'm still recovering and it keeps me awake, and I am naturally drinking less coffee than pre-CPAP anyway. Others have argued that coffee just makes you more tired, that it's interrupting sleep cycles, and the less the better. I'm pretty fine with where I am, but am trying to make the best recovery and be as awake and healthy as reasonably possible, so I figured I'd ask what people thought and how this affected you when you were recovering. Have a great day!

Re: Coffee Thoughts
I reacted the same way. I am down to one or two cups most days and that mostly for flavour and the first one to prevent withdrawal headaches.
It has been shown that coffee is not bad for you at all, in fact it can be good for you but like all drugs and foods - in moderation.
One trick with coffee if you really like the taste is to cut the caffeine by mixing in decaffeinated beans with your regular beans. Or use decaf after the first cup or 2.

Re: Coffee Thoughts
I have one 8-12 oz cup of ground, fresh brew coffee almost every day, but I make it a half-caf which means it's a pretty small dose. Some times I will have some black tea which is even a lower dose of caffeine. IMO, when you keep your dosages low they achieve the same effect as massive doses, which your body just gets used to anyway, especially in the long run.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: Coffee Thoughts
I love coffee almost as much as life itself, but when I stop drinking it I sleep much, much better according to SleepyHead.
So I have reluctantly given it up more or less for good.

Re: Coffee Thoughts
I used to be a heavy drinker too;-) I gave it up about 2 months ago due to reflux issues. The reflux is fixed, but now post cpap I have no desire to go back on the Java. I have completely switched to loose leaf tea now, and find it a much more soothing and enjoyable drink now that I am off the caffeine. So many different teas out there, I find much, much more variety than coffee.

Re: Coffee Thoughts
Four or so cups a day. Sometimes more.
(Sometimes I substitute with a mixture of green and black tea.)
I usually stop w the caffeinated stuff around 4 ish, then just decaf.
Sleep great, but I do admit, I sleep a bit better when I skip coffee for a day or two.
Interesting and useful thread.

Coffee and tea both contain nutrients which beat the holy heck out of artificial flavorings,
many of which have been proven toxic. Enjoy whatever hot or cold brew you prefer-
-even the ones made with grain!

I'm a three to four cups a day also. I quite by 10:00 am so its not a problem for me to sleep.
Also, enjoy a few Beers in the evening I found that on the nights I don't have any my AHI is higher.
