Numbers better with PR System 1

Post by Sclark08 » Sat May 24, 2014 7:52 am

I was comparing my numbers on System 1 and resmed s9 auto vpap

My numbers were much better on system1. Can vpap distinguish between a leak and a CA because my leaks are awful

Maybe I need to return to PRSystem 1 The vpap has been hard to get used to

I can't speak about the ResMed machine.
However, Respironics does seem to be able to distinguish some events during high leaks.
Since they have different algorithms, it may be that would change things for you.

Thanks JD
Yes I'm going to my DME next week and see if I can switch back. I'm not sure about the Medicare rules for switching machines. I leasr it through Medicare and after 12 months it's mine. If they won't let me switch Ill just buy a PR system one and humidifier. I'll probably always need one. Thanks for your thoughts on my issue.

System 1 and resmed s9 auto vpap
What settings are you running on each machine?

If you were getting on so well with s1, why did they give you resmed, or was that your idea.

My Dr is a Resmed person I guess. She suggested it might be better for me with the Breathe Easy feature they have . I have COPD.

After one month though I feel like I did better before and my sleepyhead data bears that out.

It is my understanding that the algorithm in the PR is somewhat different so it doesn't necessarily interpret turning over in bed etc as a CA where the Resmed is more inclined to call interruptions cA that might not be.

OK, those are the settings on the VPAP. Now what are the settings on the System 1?

You are asking questions about why you feel better on one machine as compared to the other. It could be that the settings are vastly different. We need to rule this out before making conclusions or suggestions.

Any comparison of the two machines will be invalid when mask leak is not under control.

Very true. I hate my current mask Ultra mirage.
I am due for a new mask on June 10th. I am going to give the innomed Hybrid a try. I like the fact it has a chin support. Should help keep it stable.
This is about my 300th mask. !
From all of my sleepyhead data and things that I have done differently lately I began taking phenteramine for weight loss and looking over the data that was when my serious CAs began.
I know phenteramine can suppress breathing but I never thought about it at the time. I lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks but I am going to have to continue my low carb regimen without phenteramine. Thank you all for all the insights you shared with me. I really appreciate it.
