There's no way in the world that would work. Regarding trolls, it's like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Never going to happen. It could be a member who has been here for years and recently decided to go batty. How would we know who that person is? The Goodman's aren't going to take the time to find out who the member might be. And if all they did was chase trolls and spammers they would go out of business.purple wrote:...and permanently gets rid of trolls who revive old posts.
Trolls, guests, spammers seem to become permanent fixtures in any forum. After three months on this forum, you get the ability to delete a post which you consider to be spam by simply hitting the spam button. I see really wild posts late at night and I have hit my spam button more than once.
As far as guests are concerned, it's up to you if you care to respond... or not. We have no idea if someone is reading, sometimes responding and then eventually will join. Some will and some won't. Just don't decide that someone is a troll just because they choose not to join. Why even engage them in conversation if you truly think you are on to a troll? Ignoring them would be a much better idea.
I know a person who is/was a member here. Now this person no longer posts under their originally name. They post as Guest. That's their business and nothing we can do about it... except respond... or not. There are now so many guests that I've given up trying to decide if that's the person I know.
People also post under different names; many have two or three. That's not new... the people who have been here awhile know that well.
The bottom line... ignore the people who you think pose as guests or trolls - OR - respond to them. Just don't make a big deal of it all the time. They will always be around.

I did not say it would stop all the trolls, just this group which is reviving very old posts. Automatically close Posts which have not had anything added or said in the last sixty days. Let them die in peace.

Why? What's the point?purple wrote:I did not say it would stop all the trolls, just this group which is reviving very old posts. Automatically close Posts which have not had anything added or said in the last sixty days. Let them die in peace.
Do you think that any thread over 60 days old no longer has any value?

Re: OT close all posts that have nothing new in them
You have the ability to show only posts and topics within the previous 30/90 days, etc. Couple that with marking everything read that you don't actually read at the end of your reviewing session. You have then cut out a substantial number of older posts. I don't know if it will cut out the old polls - I will check it out over the next few days and post back if I have any revelations.
That way, if you really are interested in reviewing older posts, you change your settings back to see all posts, and you can browse away.Only problem will be if someone posts a new question on top of an old topic, I am not going to see it. Whether that bothers you, or me, is a personal opinion, and I have the option to correct it.

Not a medical professional - just a patient who has done a lot of reading
Re: OT close all posts that have nothing new in them
Plus people may want to go back and look at their own old posts for whatever reason - I've done it for mine, and for ones of other members who had particular notes I want to look up or refer others to. If there's room to keep them (and that's not our call) then they should stay... maddening as this new nonsense may be.
Re: OT close all posts that have nothing new in them
Wow, apparently, as I did not explain the what closing a post, thread means: It only means that no one can add to the thread, and bring it back to the top, and the forum software does it automatically, no human intervention is required, beyond making a setting on the Goodmans end. The posts still live forever.

As much as the trolls annoy, and also the Pollock. I would hate to lose these treasures:
viewtopic.php?t=17435
viewtopic.php?t=5949
Restedgal's links to hints and Mike Moran's humor.
Some old threads are ageless.
