If your having problems take it back to the DME and tell him the on/off button isn't right, takes to many trys to get it started.

Reasonable. I was just wondering if it was a User Error. Something simple. I'm also having trouble getting used to the idea of a responsive DME....

Problems with the big knob/selector on the 960s have been documented here at least once in the past year - as I recall a few have had to be replaced. Somebody, I don't remember who, took pictures of the defective part and the circuit board below and showed how the shaft into the unit on the PC board was defective (as I recall, they said the knob was loose and looked corroded where it entered the controller housing). I don't remember if that person did a follow-up and reported back. Maybe somebody else can illuminate the situation. My 960 seems to be fine but was manufactured in March of this year. Maybe your 960 got roughly handled in shipping or even in the DMEs office.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Hmm. Okay, looks like it's time for a call to the DME tomorrow.

I think I'll go back and check the date on mine. (Remembering to take the humidifier chamber out before I turn it over, of course! )

But you were able to adjust settings and use the menu without a problem? That's strange. On/off is just selecting "Therapy" from the top-level menu. Is it reading the press as a rotation as well? Not seeing the press at all?

The tip I mentioned about the ramp is useful later, if/when the machine does (properly) go to higher pressures. I realize your initial problem was due to incorrect settings.

Not sure. I will have to do more careful observation tonight when I turn in.

I usually mask up, settle in, and read with the machine running for 10-15 minutes before turning into a pumpkin. As a consequence, I've been doing the usual routine -- check the water level in the tank and refill if necessary, assuming it is completely empty because I washed it that day; make sure it's on THERAPY (something new from the old machine); put on my brandy keg; go horizontal; put on the mask; hit the on-button and start breathing.

Yes, it is useful -- knowing that if RAMP is turned off, hitting the ramp button does not turn it on.

Hey, I'm trying to re-vamp 5.5 years of bedtime habits! The learning curve this round isn't quite the number of Immelmans it was the first time, but it IS a nuisance.

Well, gotta love User Error.

It does not appear to be a problem with the On / Off button.

What appears to be happening is that when I reach from the side toward the ON button, if I'm not careful, I contact the side of the button, and may -- or may not! -- rotate it off THERAPY and onto BIFLEX.

On / Off only works if it is on THERAPY.

I think I like my old Beastie's plain On / Off switch, not combined with a gazillion other functions.

Well, Roby Sue's post here

viewtopic.php?p=874055#p874055

may have just answered a question I had about the new Beastie. To wit, "The PR machines are really sensitive to vibrations."

Encore Viewer did not show Vibratory Snores on my old Beastie, so I have no working baseline for it. But I've been having a BUNCH of them, and was wondering what the <bleep> was going on.

I have a feeling it's

1. Me having extremely vivid dream sequences,

or

2. Me telling Mr. Shadow to quit barking and get up on the bed so we can both go back to sleep.

I think I'll observe over a week or two more to see if there's any pattern to this before I consider worrying about it. There are bound to be some sleep disturbances involved in shifting to the new machine.

Re: Snores

Quite a while back I was seeing some pretty ugly snores..blocks of 2 hours or more of pretty much straight snores. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what was going on. Some nights they would start at the beginning of the night and some nights in the middle. People would see my reports and ask me "what's with all the snores" and I would have to blame it on aliens.
Then one night my little Pug dog..Sarge...put his little chin on my thigh (we were on the couch watching TV) and he started snoring and I could feel as well as hear the snores. Pugs are famous for their snores.
Anyway a light bulb finally went off in my little pea brain....When Sarge sleeps with me he often likes to lay on my bed pillow and put his little chin on my shoulder between my neck and my outer shoulder. Sometimes he starts the night out like that and sometimes he does it in the middle of the night.
Yep, the PR S1 was picking up Pug snores/vibrations when he was up by my neck and mask. The mystery of the large blocks of solid snore flags was explained...not aliens as I would like to believe but instead a little funny looking dog who looks like ET.

Well, Mr. Shadow is 36 pounds, likes to sleeps on a pillow between me and my husband, and he snores. Quite loudly. So it could be that, too. (He hasn't used my CPAP hose for an under-fur heater lately, so I don't think it's that!)

Leak line is flat and steady, even if the AHI is jigging all over the place, so very likely all this is just a matter of getting used to the new machine. My chief index -- whether or not my hips hurt -- is better, thus I'm not all that concerned about the precise numbers yet.
