My S9 is starting to act a touch peculiar. Won't auto shut off when removing mask, won't auto start (even though set to), blows and pulses when set to warm up, probably other stuff that I'm not thinking of.
I'm not sure of how many years ago I got it, I will have to check with my dealer. But what should I do when I find out how long I've had it? I don't really have a lot of faith in the techs being able to repair all issues with it. If it is close to 5 years old, should I try to wait it out until I qualify for a new machine? I probably have an s8, and s7 stashed somewhere to tide me over, although I will miss the auto function lowering my pressure for most of the night, when I don't need it higher.
I am covered by my wife's insurance, as well as Medicare. My wife's ins. pays primary, and there is no co-pay. How does Medicare handle it?
I guess the bottom line question is, should I try to have my current machine fixed, or try to get a new one? If get a new one, what is best way to go about it? I don't have much experience dealing with insurance in cpap matters, and everything that I once knew, I've pretty much forgotten. Thanks.

The auto start, and possibly stop, are sometimes affected by mask choice.
. . . Maybe even the age or size of the mask/nasal pillows.
I would switch back to manual on/off If that is the only issue.

What pressure are you using? The SmartStart feature doesn't work so great with pressures below 7 cm when use nasal pillow masks. It's mentioned in the manual.
I think that with Medicare as the secondary insurance...once your primary insurance does whatever it will do the Medicare will its thing and if there is nothing left to do then it won't do anything.
Check with your insurance company about the 5 year thing. That was really more for general replacement and not for dealing with a problematic machine. Even Medicare will pay to repair (if feasible) for a machine out of warranty and before 5 years is up.
