Newbie with excess saliva question

Post by ZB1986 » Mon May 19, 2014 11:06 am

Just registered. Sorry I don't have my machine and mask specs, but I will get my profile done tonight.

This is my second go around with the mask. Gave up back in 2004 after a few days. I am a side sleeper and will get a PAPillow as they seem to be the best out there I can see. Once you are asleep anything can happen to your seal, etc. I move around a lot and my bedsheet is always coming undone. Was not a problem before I used the mask, it could be I am not comfortable when asleep or my sciatic nerve problem is acting up.

What my main question was, is regarding saliva. I breathe thru my mouth a lot and I assume my mouth when open is producing saliva due to the air being blown on it. I do wake up sometimes and have to wipe the inside of the mask because it is excessive. Is that normal?

I am only 3 weeks into this and have not been back to see the doctor on progress, how the mask and I am performing, etc.

Thanks.

I am a mouth breather, and some nights, I drool a bit and have to use a kleenex to dry my mask. It's not as bad as it use to be, and I will have a few nights where I drool and then go a week or more without. So, it seems to vary, and I have no idea why. I do think we tend to get used to it.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
