I've noticed that the URL's in many peoples posts are not being properly rendered, and I think that I've found out why. Here's the deal: a URL cannot have embedded spaces
For example a recent post from our friend, Wading Through the Nasty Stuff, had a reference to a page on the cpap.com site and it appeared in his post as
Puritan Bennett
which is not what Mucky intended. Notice that in the URL itself there is a space in "query=puritan bennett" A space in html is written as &20 (don't worry why), so the URL needs to be changed to include "query=puritan&20bennett", If I substitute that into the string above I get it properly rendered and all you see is the text as a link:
Puritan Bennett,
which is what Muckster intended (I think )
When you copy and paste a URL it will show the spaces, what you have to do is simply replace each space with &20
Now I've got everybody really confused...
for example ...http://www.wading&20through&20the&20muck.com...
derek
Why Internet URLs are not being posted correctly
The bigger issue is that in the last couple of days, the site started automatically URLing certain keywords.
I doubt that Muckster INTENDED to post a URL, I've seen several posts from people who had rarely if ever posted something that unclean rendered so by the auto linking.
Which is not pointing any fingers, it's a neat function they've added, and being brand new, they need a few days to iron out the kinks. (Trust me, I'm a programmer, kinks can be quite difficult to iron).
But if someone posts something that looks improperly formatted (for example, anything with the text Puritan Bennett in it), realize that it was done SUBSEQUENT to their typing.
In other words, it could be happening to your posts as well.
Liam, who hopes it happened to "Puritan Bennett" above, or he'll look kinda stupid.

I think the Kinks would not take lightly to ironing. Granted they were not that great of a group, but ironing?
Hey, a branding iron can be REALLY kinky. Or so my ex-wife was always trying to convince me.Mikesus wrote:I think the Kinks would not take lightly to ironing. Granted they were not that great of a group, but ironing?
Did I mention she's my EX wife?
Liam, who doesn't see why Ray and Dave Davies should be anemic.
