I used the Resp. Auto for the first time last night. They set my pressure from 4-10. When I first laid down I felt kind of panicky, like I couldn't breathe well enough. That passes after about 2-3 minutes.
I have the Quattro Mirage full face mask. There was no air coming from around the seal, but a good bit of air coming out of the nose bridge holes all the time. Is that normal? I was able to sleep on my side and stomach with this mask. I can't wear my glasses with it though. What masks could I still wear my glasses with. Are there any lighter masks, it felt kind of clunky.
I took these numbers from my machine and have some questions. As I said it is set from 4-10.
How does it adjust the pressure, what triggers it to raise and lower.
It said my 90% pressure was 10. What does that mean exactly?
I had 9.06 therapy hours
Large leaks 0%
AHI 1.1
Periodic breathing 0%
Are these numbers ok?
It took me longer than normal to fall asleep last night. (I do remember feeling very relaxed just as I went to sleep, very different feel.) I guess it was the weight of the mask and covering my face. I do recall waking up several times but feel somewhat more rested today. No headache this morning. Still tired but not already thinking about a nap.

Re: Questions after first Night of use...
If, by the nose bridge hole(s) you mean a patch of tiny ones in a pattern, that's the CO2 vent, and must be left uncovered by bedding or anything else at all times or you'll end up re-breathing CO2 and you don't want to do that! If yours is too noisy (it shouldn't be) then someone here who has that mask may help.
Re: Questions after first Night of use...
No, it isn't noisy, just felt like a lot of air coming out. That makes sense now. It is a bunch of little holes in the hard plastic part on the nose bridge.

I believe 90% pressure means that 90% of the time your pressure was at or below 10... likewise, if you had a percentage count in large leaks, that number would be the percentage of time in large leak... at least this is the way I understand it.

The only masks you can wear glasses with are the nasal pillow masks or the hybrid masks.

In the autopap mode... the pressure will ride at the number 4 (cm/H2O) until the machine detects an apnea event. Then it will ramp up to whatever pressure it needs (in your case it will max out at 10 cm/H2O) to treat the apnea. Once treated, it will ramp down until another event is detected. Sometimes it won't fall all the way to 4, but will hover around a 6 or 7 until another event is detected.

Yes, you have enviable numbers. Keep going!!! You get used to the therapy and will be more comfortable sooner rather than later.

Not quite true. There are several nasal masks and full face masks that do not have forehead supports. So it's possible to wear glasses with them, although the glasses may be perched up on top of the part of the cushion that covers the bridge of the nose rather than firmly sitting on your nose.Sheriff Buford wrote:9forus wrote:I

Still, in theory one could wear glasses with these nasal masks that are not nasal pillow masks:
AirFit™ N10 Nasal CPAP Mask by Resmed (also available in a "For Her" size)
Wisp Nasal CPAP Mask by PR
Swift™ FX Nano Nasal CPAP Mask by Resmed (also available in a "For Her" size)
SleepWeaver Elan™ Soft Cloth Nasal CPAP Mask by Circadiance. (The glasses may sink into the cloth of the mask.)
And in theory one could wear glasses with these full face masks:
AirFit™ F10 Full Face Mask by Resmed (But the glasses will definitely be perched on the mask and not your nose.)
Quattro™ FX Full Face CPAP Mask by Resmed (But the glasses will definitely be perched on the mask and not your nose.)
SleepWeaver Anew™ Full Face Mask by Circadiance (The glasses may sink onto the cloth of the mask.)
